News & Announcements
We are so pleased to announce a preschool opportunity for children, ages three, four and five, within our community. This unique experience in Early Childhood Inclusion will provide age-appropriate preschool instruction for the children, in a learning environment with preschool students with disabilities. This opportunity will enable your child to receive valuable preschool instruction, as well as provide the students with disabilities with age-appropriate role models. Parents will be required to transport to and from school and ensure that attendance is consistent, with the exception of illness.
The program will be offered Monday-Thursday with AM and PM sessions which is from 9:00-11:30 or 12:40-3:11. Ms. Shreve will be the teacher for this program and she comes with great experience with young students as she has been a Kindergarten teacher for over 20 years. She will additionally be assisted by an instructional assistant to support students in their learning. Enrollment is limited to students in our zone and students will be selected through a lottery system. If your child is selected, registration will be required, which includes up-to-date immunization records and if not completed may jeopardize your student’s spot in the program. If you are interested in having your child participate in this learning experience, please complete this form by Wednesday, 5/25/22. You will be notified if your child is selected by 6/1/22.
Thank you in advance for your interest. Please feel free to contact our office at 702-799-6892

District Update: Change of School Assignment
The Board of School Trustees recently approved revisions to District Policy and Regulation 5112, Change of School Assignment. These revisions promote equity for students and efficiency of resources. These changes are effective for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, including the replacement of the zone variance process with Change of School Assignment. Students currently attending school through a zone variance will be able to remain at their current school until the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
Schools with available space will be included in the District’s Change of School Assignment application process. The list of schools with available space will be posted on It’s Your Choice on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Families may apply through an online application process to a school with available space. If there are more applications than available space, the District will conduct a computerized, random lottery for student selection. The Change of School Assignment process will begin on December 16, 2021, through January 11, 2022, for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
Students who are attending a school within the following options will be allowed to remain at the school they are currently attending until the highest grade offered at the designated school is completed.
Select School Enrollment
Students in Grade 4 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students in Grade 7 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students in Grade 9 through Grade 11 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students who are not attending a school within the options listed above must either complete an application for a Change of School Assignment at a school with available space at It’s Your Choice beginning on December 16, 2021, or return to their assigned zoned school for the 2022-2023 school year. Families directly impacted will receive formal notification from the District with this information this week.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to improve our procedures in CCSD to ensure fair and equitable opportunities for all families.
Legislative Updates - Kindergarten Age Requirement
Senate Bill (SB) 102 changed the minimum age and entrance requirements for kindergarten enrollment. Previously, students could be enrolled in kindergarten if they attained the age of 5 years old by September 30 of the school year in which they were being enrolled. As a result of SB 102, kindergarten students cannot be enrolled unless they have attained the age of 5 years old on or before the first day of school. For the 2022-2023 school year, kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 8, 2022.
Students who are not supervised prior to 8:50 should not be left unattended on school grounds. Additionally, if students who are not being safe riding their bikes in the parking lot unattended may be restricted from riding their bikes/scooters to school in the future.
The parking lot at Glen Taylor is closed to all traffic as students enter and exit the campus from 8:40-9:10 and from 3:00 until buses depart. If you are in the lot prior to these times you must stay in the lot until buses and students have entered and exited for the safety of students and staff.
