Dress Code and Cell Phone Usage
Some additional reminders as we come to the end year and the weather is getting warm but CCSD dress code and student standard attire must be followed. Some of these rules are as follows:
Prohibit wearing crop tops (no skin showing between bottom of shirt/blouse and top of pants or skirts), strapless, low-cut clothing with slits, or tops and outfits that provide minimum coverage.
Prohibit wearing clothing with spaghetti straps.
All sleeveless shirts must have straps at least three inches wide and cover the shoulder.
Require that all shorts, skirts and dresses must be at fingertip length. If shorts are worn, they must be hemmed and without fraying.
Cell Phone Info to highlight:
Cellular phones may only be used prior to the first bell, after the final bell, or during scheduled nutrition breaks or lunch periods.
Students are to never access the internet on school campus while on their own devices as it would be unfiltered nor share it with other students to use at school.
Students are to never take pictures of other students on campus or post or access social media sites while at school.

Health and Safety
We will request all families start their morning by using the Parent and Guardian Guidance Checking Your Student Before Leaving Home to check for symptoms/conditions prior to sending the students to school. This will help support our campus for staying healthy and safe.
We will continue to require all students and staff upon entering the campus wear masks as well to ensure a safe environment. If you need to report sick, exposed or COVID positive student please call the COVID Central at 702-799-4322.
District Update: Change of School Assignment
The Board of School Trustees recently approved revisions to District Policy and Regulation 5112, Change of School Assignment. These revisions promote equity for students and efficiency of resources. These changes are effective for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year, including the replacement of the zone variance process with Change of School Assignment. Students currently attending school through a zone variance will be able to remain at their current school until the end of the 2021-2022 school year.
Schools with available space will be included in the District’s Change of School Assignment application process. The list of schools with available space will be posted on It’s Your Choice on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Families may apply through an online application process to a school with available space. If there are more applications than available space, the District will conduct a computerized, random lottery for student selection. The Change of School Assignment process will begin on December 16, 2021, through January 11, 2022, for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
Students who are attending a school within the following options will be allowed to remain at the school they are currently attending until the highest grade offered at the designated school is completed.
Select School Enrollment
Students in Grade 4 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students in Grade 7 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students in Grade 9 through Grade 11 during the 2021-2022 School Year on a Zone Variance
Students who are not attending a school within the options listed above must either complete an application for a Change of School Assignment at a school with available space at It’s Your Choice beginning on December 16, 2021, or return to their assigned zoned school for the 2022-2023 school year. Families directly impacted will receive formal notification from the District with this information this week.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we work to improve our procedures in CCSD to ensure fair and equitable opportunities for all families.
Legislative Updates - Kindergarten Age Requirement
Senate Bill (SB) 102 changed the minimum age and entrance requirements for kindergarten enrollment. Previously, students could be enrolled in kindergarten if they attained the age of 5 years old by September 30 of the school year in which they were being enrolled. As a result of SB 102, kindergarten students cannot be enrolled unless they have attained the age of 5 years old on or before the first day of school. For the 2022-2023 school year, kindergarten students must be 5 years of age on or before August 8, 2022.
Students who are not supervised prior to 8:40 should not be left unattended on school grounds. Additionally, if students who are not being safe riding their bikes in the parking lot unattended may be restricted from riding their bikes/scooters to school in the future.
The parking lot at Glen Taylor is closed to all traffic as students enter and exit the campus from 8:35 - 9:00 and from 2:45 until buses depart. If you are in the lot prior to these times you must stay in the lot until buses and students have entered and exited for the safety of students and staff.
